Sweet Treats & Secret Crushes by Lisa GreenwaldThey all live on the same floor of the building and have been friends for years. I really enjoyed this book. I grew up loving books by authors such as Judy Blume and Paula Danziger and reading this book transported me back to those days. I know that this would have been a book that had me hiding with a torch to finish in one night. The three main characters are all well crafted in my opinion, they are all flawed as we all were as thirteen year olds and I think most young teenagers reading the book will find that they identify with at least one of the girls. I really enjoyed the fortune cookies plotline and following the girls on their journey through their apartment building meeting all of the residents. Whilst I was provided with a review copy of the book all of the opinions expressed are my own.

Are you ready to discover a whole bunch of books on an urban theme that you might not have noticed but really should check out? But start right here, with this book:. Can fortune cookies change a neighborhood for the better? While this notion might seem too-good-to-be-true for many jaded urbanites, I think kids will buy into it. Plus, I do believe cookies can bring people together, and a fortune cookie, with its extra element of surprise wisdom seems as likely a candidate for bringing people together as any cookie I can think of.

Kate is sure her crush is going to finally talk to her, Olivia just wants to stare at her crush all day, and Georgia, well no one knows about her crush yet…But when a terrible blizzard causes a snow day, the girls have been looking forward to seems ruined. They can meet new people and maybe their apartment building will be like how it was before, but is it enough to keep their friendship strong? So I was glad when they made up. I felt bad for Kate because when she finally got what she wanted it was a huge let down, but she did jump back very quickly. I thought the end of the story was really cute. I give this book four out of five stars. You are commenting using your WordPress.
